VETERAN.  A class for dogs and a class for bitches seven (7) years of age or older.  The winners of these classes will be eligible to compete in the Best of Breed Competition.  PLEASE NOTE: Effective March 1, 1992, spayed bitches and neutered dogs are allowed to compete in the Veterans Class.

NOVICE JUNIOR CLASS - For boys and girls at least 9 and under 12 years of age on the day of the show who at the time entries close, have not won three first place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show.

NOVICE INTERMEDIATE CLASS - For boys and girls at least 12 and under 15 years of age on the day of the show who at the time entries close, have not won three first place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show.

NOVICE SENIOR CLASS - For boys and girls at least 15 and under 18 years of age on the day of the show who at the time entries close, have not won three first place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show.

OPEN JUNIOR CLASS - For boys and girls at least 9 and under 12 years of age on the day of the show who at the time entries close, have won three first place awards in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show, with competition present.

OPEN INTERMEDIATE CLASS - For boys and girls at least 12 and under 15

years of age on the date of the show who at the time entries close, have won three first place awards in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show, with competition present.

OPEN SENIOR CLASS - For boys and girls at least 15 and under 18 years of age on the day of the show who at the time entries close, have won three first place awards in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show, with competition present.

 

NOTICE: Junior Handlers must include their AKC Junior Handler Number on each entry.  You may obtain your junior handler identification number by calling the AKC, Judges Education Department at (919) 816-3776.  BE SURE ALL INFORMATION for Junior Showmanship Classes is entered on the front and back of the entry form.


 

                                              SWEEPSTAKES

 

The Shetland Sheepdog Club of Austin Puppy Sweepstakes is open to all  Shetland Sheepdogs between six (6) months of age and eighteen (18) months of age.  Sweepstakes will be judged prior to the regular classes.  All entries in the Puppy Sweepstakes must also be entered in a regular class at the regular entry fee and on the regular entry form.  Indicate your Sweepstakes Class with the age division in the space provided for “Additional Class”.

                                                PRIZE MONEY

 

Thirty-five (35%) of the total entry fee for the Sweepstakes shall be reserved for expenses.  Ten (10%) of the remaining entry fee shall be awarded to Best in Sweepstakes.  The balance shall be divided as follows according to the number of entries in each individual class.

This is a condensed premium list for the Shetland Sheepdog Club of Austin as authorized by the American Kennel Club “Rules Applying to Registration and Dog Shows”, Chapter 6, Section 2-A.  All trophies and donors will be listed in the catalog.

 

A qualifying score is required for all prizes in regular obedience classes.  A dark green ribbon will be given to each dog attaining a qualifying score.  Please Note: No entry fees will be refunded to bitches entered in the Obedience Trial that come into season after entries close.

 

                                              ATTENTION EXHIBITORS

 

·                     A Recording Fee of 50 cents and an AKC Event Service Fee of $1.50 will be required for each dog entered at any Licensed or Member Club Show or Obedience Trial.  This Recording Fee is to be collected by the show-giving Club and paid to the American Kennel Club.  If a dog is entered in more than one class in the show, the Recording Fee is to be collected on the first entry only.  (American Kennel Club Rule, Chapter 11, Section 2)

·                     Canadian exhibitors must submit entries with checks drawn on U.S. accounts or with international money order in U. S. funds.

·                     There will be no refund for duplicate entries.

·                     Exhibitors should follow their veterinarians’ recommendation to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations.

·                     Dogs need be present only for scheduled judging and will be released if not needed for further judging.


·                     Dogs must be ready for judging.  Neither the Club nor its Show Secretary will be responsible or obligated to furnish any service for notifying exhibitors or their agents of Breed or Class Judging.  Judges need not wait for any dog holding up a class. 

·                     Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging rings.

·                     The Club reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value.

·                     All trophies must be claimed the day of the show.  None will be mailed.

·                     Returned checks do not constitute a valid entry fee.  The Show Secretary will add a collection fee to the amount of each returned check.  Subsequent returned checks from the same exhibitor may result in their being put on a CASH ONLY basis.

·                     Entry fee will not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian barred from competition by action of the Show Committee.

·                     No entry fees will be refunded if the Show cannot open or be completed by reason of riots, civil disturbances, fire, extreme and/or dangerous weather conditions, an Act of God, public emergency, act of a public enemy, strikes or any other cause beyond the control of the Club or the Show Secretary.

·                     The show-giving club, the show secretary, their agents, employees, etc., assume no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury sustained by exhibitors, handlers, or to any of their dogs or property and further assumes no responsibility for injury to children.

·                     The welfare of an exhibitor’s child is assumed to be the responsibility of the exhibitor.  It is distinctly understood that exhibitors will exercise control and restraint over their children while attending these shows.

·                     No entry shall be made and no entry shall be accepted which specifies any condition as to its acceptance.  Entries will not be accepted without fees or signatures.

·                     Changes, additional or corrections to entry forms must be received in writing or by telegram prior to close of entries.  Those received by telephone are not acceptable.

·                     EXHIBITORS NOTE: Please notify Show Secretary of any change of address.

·                     If entries are sent by any express mail carrier, please indicate the NO SIGNATURE REQUIRED box.

·                     Puppies under the age of six months are strictly prohibited from entry into the show site.

·                     Crating space is limited.  Please be prepared to stack crates.

·                     All crating space is provided on a first come, first served basis.  Roping off or saving unused crating space is strictly prohibited.

·                     The Club will not be responsible for items left overnight at the show site.  There will be no security guards.

·                     THE SHOW SITE WILL BE OPEN FOR UNLOADING AND SETUP AFTER 8:00 A.M ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 2006.  ALL EQUIPMENT MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE BUILDING NO LATER THAN 2 HOURS AFTER COMPLETION OF JUDGING ON FEBRUARY 5, 2006.

·                     There are no electrical hookups for Rvs.

·                     No smoking inside the event building.

·                     Exhibitors are responsible for picking up after their own dogs.  A doggy bathroom area will be located outside the events building.  Signs clearly mark the area.


 

 

                                           DIRECTIONS TO SHOW SITE

From North or South, take I-35 to the U. S. 290 exit in Austin.  Go west on U. S. 290 (Koenig Lane) to Lamar Blvd.  Turn right on Lamar Blvd.   Go through the light at Denson Drive.  The next light is Brentwood.  Turn right on Brentwood.  The show site is the large building just after you turn onto Brentwood.  Unloading  is at the back of the building.
